Social Reflection Theory

The unstoppable and insatiable desire of people searching for the reasons for inexplicable things can show on the example of Himalaya Yeti. Yeti is an unknown, hairy, and scary monster. From the first mysterious footprint discovered in the Himalayas, there is a chemistry of fear inherent within people that drives humans to explore what we do not understand ("Curiosity of Fear").  People's curiosity, for example, has overcome the fear of finding out the truth about the Yeti. This action is "an example of cryptozoology: the search for creatures that cannot be said to exist because of a lack of evidence" (Jones). Since people like crazy stories, Yeti's unexplainable characteristic perfectly satisfies people's desires.

When watching horror movies, we will feel irritated and acquire an inexplicable sense of pleasure. Fear comes from the unknown. People may think that everyday life is dull, so they want to experience something that can raise their emotions and feelings to a peak as if receiving an electric shock.

People make up stories to explain things they do not understand. Sometimes, people use monster stories or tales to show dangerous signs in the human world. As a result, another reason to explain people's attraction may because these mysterious stories have lied in people's society for a long time.
